Sometimes, appliances and equipment malfunction, and
we cannot troubleshoot the problem. It could be that your air conditioning system
stops working, and you cannot tell what the problem is. In that case, look out
for the following common problems.
1. Frozen
Evaporator Coils
The evaporator coils are filled with a refrigerant
that helps in the absorption of heat and humidity. The coils need warm air
around them to keep functioning properly. If the air around is cold and they
start to freeze, the system may develop faults and not work as it should.
2. Low
Refrigerant
An air conditioner uses a refrigerant to remove heat
and humidity in the air. If the unit has leaks in the refrigerant lines, this
causes a low refrigerant problem.
3. Problems
with the Fan
The fan in an AC system blows indoor and outdoor air
over the unit's evaporator coil and condenser, respectively. If these fans have
a problem, the entire unit may not work correctly and will need a technician’s attention.
4. Dirty
Condenser Coils
An AC unit has condenser coils that are part of the
outdoor unit. The coils help to get rid of the heat that is removed from the
air and then expel it to the outside of the building. If the coils are dirty,
they may never work well unless they are cleaned.
